The four cabin typesTYPES
Inside: no window, cheapest, for those who only sleep in the cabin; ocean-view: a picture window with river views but no opening; balcony: a private balcony, the best viewing experience; suite: separate living area, larger, often with dedicated perks.
Three rules for choosingRULES
① For scenery a balcony cabin gives the best value; ② avoid the lowest and highest decks (noise/motion), mid-deck is steadier; ③ near the lift is convenient but slightly noisier — trade off as you prefer.
Solo travel and the supplementSOLO
Twin cabins are priced for two; solo travellers can share with a same-gender guest at no supplement, or pay a single supplement to keep the cabin alone. The supplement varies by ship and date and is quoted separately.
Our general adviceADVICE
First visit, budget allows: balcony first. Budget-sensitive: ocean-view, and put the saving toward optional shore items. Special occasion: suite.
FAQFAQ
How much more is a balcony?
Usually one tier above an ocean-view cabin; the difference varies by ship and date — ask for a quote alongside the fare.
How do I book most cheaply as a solo?
Share a twin with a same-gender guest at no supplement; to have the cabin alone, pay a single supplement quoted separately.
Is an inside cabin worth it?
If you only sleep in the cabin and spend the day on deck, an inside cabin saves money; if river views matter, it is not ideal.
