What Can You Sail on with RMB 3,000?OPTIONS
The bottom line first: on a budget of RMB 3,000 per person you can cover the standard balcony cabins of most mid-range and below mainstream ships among Three Gorges luxury cruises — plenty of choice. By this site's existing tier standards:
RMB 1,500-2,500 per person: the value-for-money mainstream
Including Victoria Sabrina, Huaxia Goddess No. 5, Yangtze Yunfan, and the mainstream ships of Yangtze Gold Cruises, President Cruises, and Interstellar Cruises. This is the highest-selling price band on the market: ships in good condition, meals and attraction admission included, and standard cabins all with private balconies.
RMB 2,500-3,000 per person: reach a bit higher
Including Century Victory, Century Glory, Century Oasis, Yangtze Memory, President No. 7, and more. The three Century ships are electrically propelled new ships with less noise and vibration and a strong reputation for dining and service; in the low season they can sometimes be had for under RMB 3,000.
The Four-Step Savings Method: Downgrade the Right WaySAVE
On a limited budget, make trade-offs in the following order for the smallest loss of experience:
Step 1: Travel in the low season
Before April 15, June-August, and November are shoulder season, when the same ship and cabin cost clearly less than in the peak months of May, September, and October; within the same tier, shoulder season may let you afford a tier higher. Winter prices are even better but some routes suspend operations.
Step 2: Downgrade the cabin, not the ship
Rather stay in a standard cabin on a better ship than in a premium cabin on a lesser one. The ship itself determines the bulk of the dining, service, and public-area experience; cabin type is only area and view.
Step 3: Don't chase decks and orientation
Bookings default to the base deck; staying higher requires a paid deck upgrade (standards differ by ship). According to traveler feedback, moving up one or two decks makes little difference — this is the easiest money to save.
Step 4: Shorten the route if necessary
When both vacation and budget are tight, choose segmented routes such as Fengjie to Yichang, 3 days 2 nights — the core gorge scenery is all there and the price is lower. Subject to each ship's actual sailings.
Hidden Costs beyond the RMB 3,000: Budget the TotalCOSTS
The ticket quote usually covers: onboard lodging, three meals (included on luxury cruises), admission to scheduled sights, guide service, and onboard entertainment. But the following expenses are generally not included — leave extra room in the budget:
①Long-distance transport — flights or trains to/from Chongqing or Yichang; book your cruise ticket before booking transport; ②Paid extras — some shore sights and the ship lift experience etc. are at your own expense, signed up on board; ③Tipping — no hard rule, at your discretion; some premium ships collect a daily tip on the settlement bill; ④ Local transport between the pier and downtown, and personal expenses (drinks, ship photos, spa, etc.). All charges are subject to the written confirmation at the time of booking.

Seasonal Price Gaps and Booking TimingTIMING
Like airfares, cruise ticket prices float up and down with booking time — a normal market adjustment. Upstream routes are typically 10-30% cheaper than downstream, so budget-sensitive travelers can prefer upstream. Foreign travelers are advised to book 3 or more months ahead and mainland travelers 1 month or more ahead; if cabins remain, you can order as late as one day before departure, but cabins may sell out at any time. Booking 60 or more days ahead earns early-bird pricing on some sailings.
Recommended Ships in the RMB 3,000 TierPICKS
Balancing ship condition, reputation, and price, for under RMB 3,000 per person we especially recommend: Victoria Sabrina (electric propulsion, quiet and stable), Huaxia Goddess No. 5 (distinctive Goddess-culture theme), Yangtze Yunfan (a recent new ship with up-to-date facilities), Century Victory (new flagship-class of the Century series, excellent dining), and Yangtze Gold No. 5 (a Yangtze Gold mainstay with steady value for money). With a slightly larger budget, the Century Oasis and President No. 7 are worth paying extra for.

① Shortlist before comparing prices — use the homepage's 8-level quick-reference table to pick 2-3 ships by budget, then ask us for quotes for the corresponding sailings; ② Confirm the refund and change rules — tiers differ between cruise lines, and holiday, special-price, and early-bird products have stricter rules; confirm in writing before ordering; ③ Real-name booking requires complete document details for every traveler. Prices, schedules, and paid extras are subject to the written confirmation at the time of booking.
