Two Ways to Spend RMB 5,000TWO WAYS
The same budget allows two very different ways of spending, matching two experience preferences:
Approach 1: Go straight to a new flagship's standard balcony cabin
Put the whole budget into the "ship" and stay in a new flagship's standard balcony cabin. For travelers who put dining, public facilities, and service quality first.
Approach 2: Pick a solid mid-tier ship and spend on the cabin upgrade
Choose a well-regarded ship in the RMB 3,000-4,000 tier and upgrade to a suite, getting more space and VIP privileges for the same budget. For travelers who value privacy, rest quality, and a sense of occasion.
Neither approach is absolutely better — it depends on whether you care more about "the ship's overall quality" or "the room's spec." Both are set out below.
Approach 1: Straight to the RMB 4,000-8,000 Tier New FlagshipsNEW FLAGSHIP
The Yangtze Moonlight and Vista Aurora are a new generation of cruise ships launched in the last two years, in the RMB 4,000-8,000 per person tier: stylish interiors, brand-new facilities throughout, and soundproofing and bathrooms in the current first rank of Yangtze cruises. A budget of around RMB 5,000 in the shoulder season gets their standard balcony cabin and the full standard of "the newest generation of ships" — restaurant, decks, cinema, and entertainment areas all at full stretch.
Best for: travelers sensitive to new ships, complete facilities, and overall experience, willing to concentrate the budget on first-rate public spaces and service. If several people travel together and the budget can stretch, both ships' family suites are also within reach in this tier.
Approach 2: A RMB 3,000-4,000 Tier Ship + Cabin UpgradeUPGRADE
The RMB 3,000-4,000 tier gathers a group of solidly reputed ships: Yangtze Miracle, Yangtze Melody, Century Dream, Century Voyage, Yangtze No. 1, and more. These ships' overall quality is already very good, and a RMB 5,000 budget can upgrade to an executive suite or even higher cabin types in this tier, with more space and privileges such as the VIP restaurant — the experience of a "suite guest" is a qualitative difference from a standard-cabin guest.
Best for: honeymooners, anniversaries, or travelers who value rest quality; also those without a fixation on brand-new ships who care more about room size and dining privileges. Executive suites are about 25-35 sqm with VIP privileges, and after upgrading the whole journey's dining and rest experience steps up noticeably. For specific cabins and prices, ask us for a quote for your sailing; the written confirmation at the time of booking prevails.

Balcony Cabin or Suite — How to Choose?BALCONY VS SUITE
A simple decision framework: plenty of time on board and rich daytime activities — choose a good ship's balcony cabin to maximize the value of the public spaces; value in-cabin time and want quiet and privacy (honeymoons, traveling with seniors, light sleepers) — choose the better cabin, and the suite's VIP restaurant privileges lift the whole journey's dining experience a level.
Either way: the standard balcony cabin is the recommended floor for the Three Gorges cruise experience — a private viewing balcony, about 15-20 sqm, with gorge views on demand; executive suites are about 25-35 sqm with VIP privileges. Bookings default to the base deck and higher decks require a paid upgrade — don't fixate on it with a tight budget. If it's still hard to choose, send us both options and we'll compare actual quotes and cabin availability for your travel dates before you decide.
The 60-Day Early-Bird DiscountEARLY BIRD
Some sailings offer early-bird discounts: booking 60 or more days ahead qualifies for early-bird pricing — the most effective "free upgrade" in this tier: the same money at early-bird prices may buy a cabin a tier higher or a golden peak-season date. Note that early-bird products usually have stricter refund and change rules — confirm the standards for your sailing with us before ordering, subject to the written confirmation. Ticket prices float with booking time, much like airfares.
Booking AdviceBOOKING
① First fix your travel dates and direction (upstream/downstream), then choose between the two approaches; ② Ask us for both quotes — "new-ship standard cabin" and "mid-tier ship suite" — for comparison; ③ Confirm the early-bird policy and refund/change rules, then pay early to lock the cabin — cabins may sell out at any time; ④ Book the cruise ticket before booking long-distance transport.
