General Refund and Change Fee StandardsREFUND
The general standards (counted in calendar days before departure, based on Beijing time) are as follows:
· Cancellation 30 days or more before departure: 10% of the order amount;
· Cancellation 15-29 days before departure: 30%;
· Cancellation 11-14 days before departure: 50%;
· Cancellation within 10 days of departure or after departure: 100%.
A cruise is moving: once it departs, the vacated cabin cannot be resold to other travelers at short notice, which is why fees rise steeply close to departure. Tickets are valid only for the departure date shown — they are void afterwards with no refund.
Note: Each cruise line has more detailed tiered standards (fee-free periods and percentages all differ); the written confirmation at the time of booking prevails.
These Sailings Have Stricter Refund RulesSPECIAL
The refund and change rules below are stricter than the general standards — confirm each item before ordering:
· Holiday sailings: sailings falling partly or entirely within national statutory holidays or major local festivals (including one day before and after); Spring Festival sailings cover New Year's Eve through the 15th day of the first lunar month;
· Chartered sailings: whole-ship or large-area charters; once berths and dates are locked in, changes are extremely difficult;
· Promotional and early-bird sailings: low prices in exchange for lock-in; refund and change terms are usually tighter;
· Orders from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and foreign travelers: in principle non-refundable and non-changeable; where genuinely necessary, supporting evidence must be provided and the cruise line's actual review result prevails.
In addition, cancellations caused by force majeure or events the cruise line cannot avoid (such as hull or machinery failures, port congestion, etc.) are not the responsibility of the cruise line or the booking agent.
Rules for Changing Dates (Rescheduling)CHANGE
For non-holiday, non-chartered sailings, you can generally reschedule to a later departure within a certain number of days before departure. Common rules:
· The request must be made 15-30 days before departure; within 15 days of departure, changes are generally no longer processed;
· Not processed if the new sailing is fully booked;
· If the new sailing is more expensive you pay the difference; if cheaper, the difference is not refunded;
· Rescheduling is allowed only once, with a fee of 10% of the order amount;
· If you still fail to sail after rescheduling, the booking is voided as of the original date.
Note: Standards vary by cruise line and channel; the reschedule window and fee are subject to the written confirmation at the time of booking.

Missed Ships Are Not Refunded, and Travel InsuranceINSURANCE
Missed-ship costs are not refunded: if you fail to board on time due to your own reasons or third-party reasons (such as flight or train delays), the ticket cost cannot be refunded. Board on time as customer service notifies, and leave ample travel time on boarding day.
Buying travel accident insurance yourself is recommended: cruise tickets generally do not include personal accident insurance, and the itinerary covers shore excursions, transfers, and more. Before departure, buy a travel accident insurance policy covering the whole trip, and check whether it includes trip cancellation/curtailment cover — an extra layer of protection against refund and change risks.
Pitfall ChecklistCHECKLIST
Based on years of front-line experience, these three practices most often cause losses — avoid them:
· Paying into a personal account: whatever reason you are given, never transfer booking payments to any personal account; all payments must go to the corporate account of a legitimate channel;
· Booking at the last minute: cancellations within 10 days of departure are charged 100%. Last-minute orders face tight cabin availability and leave no room to adjust if plans shift slightly — book as early as possible;
· Not reading the refund and change terms: holiday, chartered, and promotional sailings, plus orders from Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and foreign travelers, follow different rules from the general standard. Confirm the written terms item by item before paying so you know exactly where you stand.

Once you are clear on the refund and change terms, if you are still choosing a ship, take a look at:
· Yangzi Explorer — widely recognized as the finest cruise on the Yangtze, with nearly 1:1 crew-to-guest ratio;
· President No. 7 — on longer routes such as Chongqing to Wuhan, it passes the five-stage ship lock and the Gezhouba lock on its own hull.
