Yangtze No. 7 is a newbuild of the Changhang series with a gross tonnage of 17,000 tons and a maximum capacity of 638 guests. She is owned by China Changjiang National Shipping Group Chongqing Company, designed by Wuhan Changjiang Ship Design Institute and built at the Haimen base of China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Group, representing the highest level of inland river cruise design and construction. Yangtze No. 7 is the first inland river cruise ship in China to run on a single methanol fuel: compared with conventional diesel power it cuts sulphide emissions by 99%, nitrogen oxides by 60% and particulates by 95%, with a 20% carbon reduction. She also integrates a smart energy-efficiency management system, smart cabin system and a cruise operations platform, with vibration and noise levels targeted at the top grade of the China Classification Society "Green Ship" notation. The ship is planned for the Chongqing—Shanghai all-round leisure route linking World Heritage and intangible cultural heritage sites along the Yangtze, and pioneers a "Three Gorges by daylight" itinerary so guests can watch Qutang, Wu and Xiling Gorges at leisure from the deck.
A member of Changjiang Shipping Group under China Merchants Group. In 1979 the "Kunlun" sailed from Nanjing and opened the era of Yangtze cruise tourism; long entrusted with state-guest reception duties, the fleet is known in the trade as the "state guest fleet". It currently operates three luxury ships — Yangtze No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 — with Yangtze No. 7 as its new-generation flagship.
